Matthew's 18th Birthday

Melanie Hall 10th November 2020

Story

November for my family will always be an exceptionally hard month. This year a little bit more than ever with it being what should be Matthews 18th birthday.

A little about Matthew 💙 Matthew was born a perfectly healthy bundle of trouble. At the age of 3 his health slowly started to decline. Age 5 after a long road of countless hospital visits from Cheltenham General, Gloucester Royal, John Radcliffe  to Great Ormond Street, Matthew was diagnosed with Late infantile Batten Disease, an exceptionally rare neurodegenerative condition which sadly is always fatal

On Matthews 7th birthday (November 10th) Matthew became seriously unwell where we found ourselves in Bristol children’s hospital with a very very poorly little boy on life support.

Matthew very sadly passed away in our arms on November 21st 2009.

I’m sure many can understand why November is a painful month. We really are so very grateful to Acorns for supporting us through a journey that is honestly the worst thing any parent could possibly have to deal with. They however were there every step of the way. We are so very grateful to them and always will be.

For Matthews 18th birthday/anniversary, if you would like to donate a couple of £'s to Acorns children’s hospice, I’d be really grateful. They really do make a difference to so many families lives in so many ways. 💙🌟💙
